WoW Season 3 Brings Great Gold News

Today and yesterday was a good day for many people in World of Warcraft. While people were hoarding arena points to get their new Season 3 pvp gear. The smart ones were hoarding materials to sell for today. Here's the WoW Professions thread in which some people claim to have made up to 58k gold. Many Miners, Jewelcrafters, Enchanters and even some Tailors/Leatherworkers were marking up their goods.

While I thought I did well cashing in at 1,600 gold today, I guess I was beat by those people who prepared in advance for this. I apparently didn't follow my own WoW Auction House Gold Tips regarding preparing for Tuesdays. Don't mind the Earned/hr part of the screen shot since I only logged in to check my mail so not very accurate on that part. Also my Titan Bar money mod is a little screwed up ever since Patch 2.3 came out, and I haven't bothered to fix it since I only look at it when I log in/out.

Anyways I want to know if anyone of you readers were able to cash in on this last update with some impressive numbers. Let me know, and good luck to you all for when the next Season's arena gear comes out.

Update For World of Warcraft Tip For Leatherworkers

I just wanted to update my free tips for the poor WoW leatherworker post. Seems like there are many people wanting to know more about a particular product called Heavy Knothide Armor Kit that was released with the recent WoW patch 2.3.

Heavy Knothide Armor Kit

What is it?
Permanently increase the Stamina of an item worn on the head, chest, shoulders, legs, hands or feet by 10. Only usable on items level 60 and above.

Where can Leatherworkers learn it?
In Lower City Shattrah, from the Master Leatherworking Trainer Damari at location 67,
67(The southeast part of the city map near the exit into Terrokar Forest.

Who makes it?
Leatherworkers with 350 or greater skill.

What does it take to make one?
It takes three Heavy Knothide Leathers.

How many skills ups can I get from it?
Heavy Knothide Armor kits are Yellow from 350-354, Green 355-364, and go Grey at 365.

Can I make gold selling it?
Definitely, I make more gold selling these than selling the Heavy Knothide Leather on the auction house by themselves.

I hope this answers many of the questions that people seem to be searching for regarding Heavy Knothide Armor Kits.

World of Warcraft Gold Tip for The Poor Leatherworker

So you wanna be a leatherworker in World of Warcraft? This isn't the guide for you then, the leatherworker power-leveling guide is located here along with all the other professions. This quick tip is for those poor leatherworkers who finally got the nice shiny Epic leather gear. Now the only problem is once you made your gear what else can I do with the skill? I know, I can sell various armor kits to make money like that expensive Nethercobra Leg Armor! I'm sorry to say it'll be a slow going process for you unless your running heroics day in and out for those Primal Nethers.

Well this quick tip won't make you rich fast, but it can put an extra 50-100g a day for a few minutes work.

Here is what you'll need:
Minimum LW Skill: 325 (yep fund your 300-375 training with this)
About 100g to start off if you have no materials.
Skinning - Not required, but useful
Auctioneer - Not required, but makes things go a lot faster. Check my post on Auctioneer Guide.

First thing first - check for your competition

Go to the Auction House, and search for Knothide Armor Kit and Heavy Knothide Leather. As of Patch 2.3 there is also a Heavy Knothide Armor Kit(LW Skill 350) available as well. Write down the prices of those items, and also check which increments are selling. Are there stacks of 20? Or are there stacks of 1s and 2s. Figure out the unit price of Knothide Armor Kit, and Heavy Knothide leather. (ie: if a stack of heavy knothide leather is 40g each piece is 2g. [40g / 20pc = 2g])

Step two: Next based on this unit price figure out how much you need to buy your materials for to make a profit. For the purpose of this tip we will use Heavy Knothide Leather at 3 gold sell price, and Knothide Armor Kit at 2 gold 50 silver sell price.

Heavy Knothide Leather
Materials: 5 Knothide Leather OR 25 Knothide Leather Scraps

Unit price of Materials for Heavy Knothide Leather:
Knothide Leather: 60 Silver [3g / 5pc] or 12 gold per stack
or
Knothide Leather Scraps: 1 silver 20 copper [3g / 25pc] or 2 gold 40 silver per stack

Knothide Armor Kit
Materials: 4 Knothide Leather OR 20 Knothide Leather Scraps

Unit price of Materials for Knothide Leather Armor:
Knothide Leather: 63 Silver [2.5g / 4pc]or 12.6 gold per stack
or
Knothide Leather Scraps: 1 silver 25 copper [2.5g / 20pc]or 2 gold 50 silver per stack

These listed prices are your unit costs. You want to get your cost down to around 1/2 to 3/4 this to make a worthwhile profit. So your target prices are 30 silver [6 gold per stack] for Knothide Leather, and 60 copper [1gold 20 silver] per Knothide Leather Scrap

Step Three: Check the Auction house for materials at this amount.
Due to each server having its own economy, you will have to adjust according based on the above formulas.

If there are materials (knothide leather or knothide leather scraps) with a buyout with the target prices listed above. Buy those materials outright. On my server Leather Scraps can be found for less than 1g a stack(knothide leather for around 7g), and I can sell it for 3g making me 2 gold per piece. If material costs are high, but there is no finished products (Heavy Knothide Leather/Knothide Armor Kits) you might be able to start making a little extra money. Just figure the cost of the finished product, and sell for a profit.

Step Four: Put your goods on the Auction House

Now that you bought your materials start making those armor kits, and heavy leathers. Then put them up on the auction house in increments of 1 or 2. I would maybe start with 5 stacks of 2 heavy knothide leather to feel where the demand is. Then check back the next day to see if it all sold or not. Adjust this accordingly so that you don't lose your deposit if an item doesn't sell. Do the same for your knothide armor kits. Put them up in increments of 1 or 2. I usually sell out if I place 10 auctions of 1 pc, but it never sells when I put up 1 stack of 10. Remember this!

Step Five: Restock your materials

Now you've started to sell some goods, but don't stop buying materials. Your next goal is to buy out all the materials at below your unit price. Also place bids on the other items if the bid price is lower than your unit price. This does two things for you:

1. You have a ready supply of product to sell if the market suddenly dries out.
2. By buying out everything cheaper than your material unit price you are setting the price in the market for your goods. If someone tries to undercut you they will have to do so at a loss or at the expense of time farming their own goods. Neither is something most people will do for an extended period of time.

Notes:

I say look for scraps for one main reason. Skinners who never took leatherworking.
They cannot convert their scraps into regular leather, so they end up with bags filled of scraps to list on the auction house. Use this to your advantage. Buy the scraps, and convert it into these two goods, and rake in the money.

Why do these two items make more money than selling an expensive armor kit like Nethercobra leg armor?

Answer #1: Volume - You can sell 20-30 pieces of heavy knothide leather in the auction house overnight, but will probably only sell 1 Nethercobra Amor kit a day IF you have the nether for it.

Answer #2: Quest - People wanting to complete the quest chain Quenching the Blade need 4 heavy knothide leather.

Answer #3: Other Trade Skills - Both Tailoring and Engineering require Knothide Leather, and Heavy Knothide Leather for some of their goods. However since they only use 2-4 pieces at a time the big stacks aren't very profitable for them. If your the nice leatherworker that puts up stacks of 1s and 2s of Heavy Knothide Leather these people will love you.

This tip is part of a series of tips I will share on my site so stop by every now, and then. Also check the Auction House Day tip while you're here.

Auctioneer Guide for World of Warcraft

My regular job has been having me work alot lately so I haven't been pushing any products lately. However, while I've been looking around the web for something to write about, I came across a good Auctioneer Guide site. Free of ads, and pretty much sums up everything I would have written about the mod. I use this mod daily, and without it I probably would not be here blogging about making ridiculous amounts of gold in World of Warcraft.

A couple things I would add about Auctioneer is that it is a memory hog. If your computer is lagging already in the big towns like Orgrimmar I would either a) not install it or b) use it in a less populated auction house accessible city like Thunder Bluff/Darnassus. The mod stores useful data, and after a while the database gets fairly large causing it will slow your computer down eventually.

The second thing about the article is its download link. Like all programs to download from the internet, I would advise anyone to download the program from the original download site at AuctioneerAddOn.com. I don't have anything against the link that was posted, but sometimes people add in their own malicious code when you download something from a 3rd party site. It also has a nice little donation page too if you are feeling generous, and like the work they do. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about this mod, I feel that I'm pretty confident about its use.

World of Warcraft Gold Tip #2 - 7 Days to Riches

If you've been keeping track of my Sparter earnings for September you've probably noticed that it hasn't moved last month. Like I mentioned in before that the average price per 1000g was down to $50. I'm just playing it like a stock market, and waiting for the prices to go back up. If you want to see Warcraft gold price trends Sparter has a very nice stock market like gold trend graph. Hopefully the prices go back up sometime soon so I can cash in some more.

As I wait for the prices to go back up again here's another gold making freebie. Rightfully dubbed 'Time is of the Essence'. This tip is for people who use the auction house a lot.

If you haven't already noticed, real life coincides greatly with what happens in the game. If you've participated in raids then you have felt the crunch of school/work then go home raid/sleep. People who watch the auction carefully also pick up on patterns in the market, and I'll break it down into the seven days of the week. The World of Warcraft week starts on Tuesday also known as the reset or patch day.

Tuesday - Raid Instance Reset, Patch Day, PVP Arena Armor

This is one of the bigger auction house days for me as a jewel crafter. The PVP players get their nice brand new PVP gear that they earned from arena points today, which means they'll need nice shiny +12 stam gems @ 50-60g a pop. Other items that sell well is Enchanting & Enchanting materials. Check the Auction House (AH) for good deals before today (even buy it out Monday), and sell it to people who need them on Tuesday.
Raiders also go into instances on this day getting new armors as well. Over all this is a good day for the following professions:
  1. Jewelcrafters - New armor means new gems they need to socket with
  2. Enchanters - New armor/weapons means they'll need enchants
  3. Leatherworkers - people want Cobrahide Leg Armor or Clefthide Leg Armor and the materials to make them
  4. Alchemists - last minute raid consumables sell well, as well as end of the night restocking
  5. Tailors - Mystic Spellthread and Silver Spellthread and the materials for them sell well
  6. Herbalists - Herbs for the better selling consumables will sell. Look up materials for health/mana potions, Major Agility Elixirs, and Flasks to narrow down what to gather.
  7. Engineer - Used to do well for repair bots... Not since Burning Crusade though.
  • Buy up cheap materials today - There will be left over short bids on items if it was a patch day. Bid on items that you can resell later or pick up cheaper materials by bidding instead of buying out. The longer the patch the better chance to pick up an item for cheaper. The best day for this is Monday the night before a major patch.
Wednesday - Raid Day #2

There's no significant day about this one except that many guilds will have a second raid day on Wednesdays. Also a few stragglers will pick up their pvp gear today. The above items sell sell okay, but not as much as Tuesday.

Thursday - Raid Day #3 - Auction House items depleted somewhat

Many guilds either skip Thursday to break or continue raiding. Some will break off to do pvp or instances or start farming consumables for raids. What do you do on this day?
  • Mark up your items a little more - By this day in the week the items on the AH is a little depleted. You can mark up your items a little more, but keep the number of items on the AH lesser. You won't move as much items today, but you can get higher prices for them. Consumables for raids do so-so today as people start restocking for the Friday/Saturday raid groups.
Friday - Raid or Get a life day

Friday is the end of the real life work week, and also the end of the school week. You'll see people you don't see during the week due to 'busy life' etc starting to show up. AH items start off selling at a good price early Friday, but the prices start dropping as more and more people log in to start their play time for the weekend. The player base basically splits into two groups today. The hard core raiders will raid, and the people who want to have some sort of life outside of World of Warcraft will go out.

  • Watch for good deals on the AH - the price wars start today on auction house items. You're Thursday auction items will probably get sold at a good price, but don't count on it today.
  • Good day for raiding consumables, but watch the bid/buyout prices.
  • Professions people do so-so today, but usually better off on Sunday.
Saturday - Raid or Get a life day 2 - Farmers Galore - Barren Chat Day 1

Saturday is many people's day off so you'll see people struggling to farm gold/materials, run instances, pvp for pvp honor bonuses. Auction house prices tend to dive on Saturday as the supply is pretty good on gathered items. Crafted items, depending on server populations, can do well here. If you have a rare or uncommon profession recipe, and is logged on today you can sometimes monopolize the market. Server is usually crowded all day, and well the annoying Barrens chat fills up the trade channel so that sitting there announcing your wares is kind of moot.

  • Check the Auction House for good deals on materials that can resold later in the week for profit
  • Check rare or harder to make craftables on the Auction House, as some regulars won't be on to put them up. If you're the only one putting them up today then feel free to mark it up and profit.
Sunday - Raid Day Commences - Pvp Holiday continues - Big Auction House Day #2

Sunday is my second biggest Auction house day, and I'm not sure why. Here are my speculations though based on what I sell:

  • Leftover enchant/gemming needed - some people just can't find the stuff they need on Saturday so that demand is still there Sunday.
  • Late night sessions - People play till late in the night Saturday so they just log off without restocking or enchanting/gemming their stuff
  • Pvp Honor gear - I notice alot of stamina gems selling today, probably due to people playing all day Saturday to collect honor for the Veteran/Warlord Pvp sets.
Sunday becomes a good day for crafting. For gatherers, there is alot of surplus herbs, and ore today so unless you need the cash I'd wait till later in the week to sell gathered items. Sunday also is a day that many people will start raiding again so you see many people with new raid armor needing enchants/kits/gems.

Monday - Careful of what you put up on AH - Leftover weekend surplus - last minute raid/pvp day

Monday is the day many guilds will try to finish up a raid instance, or people try to put in the 10 games for the pvp arena points. Its relatively quite with alot of surplus supplies from the weekend still flooding the market. Its a good day to buy stuff to resell on Tuesday-Thursday.

I put a big Careful up top for a good reason. Tuesday is sometimes a BIG patch day. What does this mean for Auction House people? Make sure your minimum bids are set higher than normal or to something you can accept as a sell price. If the server goes out for 12 hours, the last person who bid 10g on your 100g item will win it for 10g during the server down time. This is why I stress to be careful on what you put up today.

  • Monday is also one of the best days to low ball bid everything hoping to win those expensive items that other people put up. Only bid on stuff you know you can resell later though.
  • Setup your Tuesday gem/armor kits/enchanting materials Monday night to get the first dibs on people who buy on Tuesday. Check back on Tuesday to adjust your sell prices if someone came in and underbid you on something your trying to sell.

Long post, but if you want to make money on the Auction House in World of Warcraft, this is one of the more important things to learn early on. As for how I'm doing on my gold? Its been about 13 days since my last post, and I'm at almost 9k gold, hopefully prices go back up so that I don't have 30k gold sitting in my bank again.

Flooding the Warcraft Gold Market Some More

Yup, right now if you go to Sparter to buy gold the average price for 1000g on my server is about $50. Sucks for me since I usually get to sell it for more. So now my question is should I sell my gold not or just sit back and stock up until the prices go back up. I'm averaging about 300g/day just logging in for about 20-30 minutes for the days that I DO log in to check my auction house sales. For right now I think I'm just going to wait till the next wave of gold farmers get banned for me to sell my stuff. Yes I know its ironic for me to wait for people to get banned when I'm selling gold which can get me banned from the game eventually. =)

Anyways a week or so ago I said I was going to create a landing page for World of Warcraft gold guide. So far I've been getting some hits to it, but no actual sales. I think I'm going to rethink or rework the page or maybe tryout one of the other Clickbank guides to sell if this one doesn't do well. If I'm really going to make it from gamer to making a living online I need to get the affiliate marketing thing down. So if anyone has got some tips to share with me please feel free to drop me a note.

Back to World of Warcraft though. I guess I can give a freebie on how I make this amount of gold. Currently I'm alt tabbed out of the game waiting for my mail to finish up opening up. In the 12 minutes I've been online I have collected 1125g from yesterday's sales. Nice huh?
You can ignore that earned/hr part since I was only logged in for 12 minutes or so.

Everyday I earn gold via the auction house. My character is a 375 Jewelcrafter with most of the recipes. What I basically buyout the whole auction house of Adamantite Ore to prospect, and then resell the gems (blue and green). Two useful mods that you will probably need is Auctioneer, and CT Mailmod.

Check the prices of all the blue quality gems on the auction house. That way you can figure out what price you need to buy the ore at. (average on my server is 12g for Talasite up to 55g for Star of Elune). On my server this comes out to about 20g/stack of Adamantite ore.

Prospect all the ore that I get, and vendor the dust (I don't have time to make it into mercurial stuff)

Cut and sell all the gems and list them on the Auction House at cheaper than what everyone else sells it for. Auctioneer will let you put up multiple items with ease and speed. Also it will also calculate the price so you can beat everyone Else's price on there. Very handy, and otherwise it would be too time consuming to do this method without the mod. Best selling gem is Solid Star or Elune followed by Glowing Nightseye, and Runed Living Ruby.

That's it, that's all I do. Thought it was going to be hard? I have a few other tricks up my sleeve to make gold, but this is by far the most efficient for me. Drawback to this is its huge start up cost (around 7k to get 375 JC with all the recipes). As time goes on I'll post some other ways to make gold easily on the game. Anyways that's all for now I've got gems to cut.
